Margaret James takes her hat off to the prolific author who writes in several genres

The British author Carol Wyer writes bestselling novels in several genres, always starring feisty women. Carol clearly writes about what she knows because in real life she is something of a heroine herself. ‘I first started writing when I was in my twenties with a series of humorous letters written in a hospital ward,’ she says. ‘I’d undergone major spinal surgery and was bedbound for a long time. I documented the day-to-day life around me, added splashes of humour, then sent the letters to family and friends who were entertained and begged for more.
