DEATH, taxes and James Roby having a storming game for St Helens are three things you can rely on in life.
The maverick hooker turned 35 just five days before the showpiece event, but he looked evergreen as Saints and Wigan played out what has to be one of the most enthralling Grand Finals in history.
The result was only decided as the final hooter sounded, but Roby had more than put his hat into the ring to scoop up the Harry Sunderland Trophy with a composed performance that the Rugby League fraternity has come to expect from the veteran hooker.
He made almost 60 tackles in the middle of the field, continued to grapple throughout the game for control of the ruck and almost set up Zeb Taia for the first score of the game, before Taia was deemed by the video-referee to have been offside from the kick.
