LIMOUX SNATCH DERBY WIN
FRENCH ROUND-UP
WITH MIKE RYLANCE
IN A typically-tough derby match against old rivals Carcassonne, Limoux came back from 18-16 down in the final stages of a see-sawing game to grab victory by 24-18.
Much-travelled forward Eddy Pettybourne, who had just returned from the sin bin, took Stan Robin’s pass and crashed over for the winner, goaled by Pat Templeman, after Carcassonne had led 18-16.
Aussie halfback Templeman also tagged on a late penalty-goal.
On the back of defeats at Villeneuve and St Estève- XIII Catalan, Limoux found better form, but it was Carcassonne who scored first through halfback Alexis Alberola before winger Fabien Flovie went over for Limoux and stand-off Robin touched down his own kick.
