MIKE NICHOLAS MBE, the president of Wales Rugby League, was – with director of rugby Clive Griffiths and head of youth development Paul Berry – among more than 300 spectators when Warrington Under 16 sides played East Wales and West Wales on Saturday.
The matches, at Warrington’s Victoria Park, were both closely fought, with East Wales losing 24-20 and West Wales prevailing 8-4.
Nicholas, who joined Warrington as a player from rugby union’s Aberavon in 1972, told League Express: “It’s all part of a Rugby League renaissance in Wales under recently-appointed chairman James Davies and chief executive Richard Hibbard.
