February 2025 This Cultural Edition unfolds a vibrant tapestry of captivating projects curated by esteemed and award-winning photographers from across the globe. Each project invites you on a visual journey, unveiling the often-overlooked corners and unique communities that shape our world. Amidst the backdrop of devastating wars and political strife that threaten to divide us, this issue celebrates the vital themes of unity and acceptance. We are thrilled to feature an exclusive interview with internationally acclaimed photographer Michelle Valberg. In it, she offers a deep dive into her poignant documentary, which explores the resilient communities of the Canadian Arctic, revealing their rich culture and connection to the land. The remarkable Giovanna Aryafara graces us with two enchanting projects: the vibrant landscapes of Ethiopia, bursting with life and color, and the serene beauty of Bali, showcasing its lush scenery and rich traditions. Dive into the artistry of Chado, the Japanese Tea Ceremony, presented through the eyes of Kazuhito Ishida, Yoshio Kuramochi, and Mark Edward Harris. This exquisite documentation captures the elegance and thoughtful ritual of this profound cultural practice. Aga Szydlik enthralls us with her visionary project, The Spirit of the Voodoo. This project delves into the enchanting and often misunderstood world of Voodoo traditions, revealing the deep connection between spirituality and community. Elena Molina presents a magnificent documentary series that explores the Ivory Coast, capturing its diverse cultures, landscapes, and people's resilience. Meanwhile, Sharon Eilon takes us to the hidden sanctuary of the Daughters of the Buddha, unveiling the inspiring stories of young women nurturing their spirituality and education. JM Simpson sheds light on the often-ignored realities of homelessness through his compelling black-and-white project, Humanity of the Moment. This project captures intimate moments of life and resilience in adversity.

Lens Magazine

Many of the selected works, often do not resonate with me. Issue #64 Documentary Photography was one issue that I really enjoyed. #65 not so much.
So many advertisements.
