Kernel watch
Jon Masters keeps up with all the latest happenings in the Linux kernel, so you don’t have to.
Linus Torvalds announced Linux 6.3-rc6, noting, “It’s Easter Sunday, which means that we’re all about to gorge on mämmi. (Right? You do have your carton of mämmi ready to go, don’t you?)” For those who aren’t Finnish, apparently this is a traditional orange-flavoured dessert made from water, and rye flour.
Things do seem to be calming down towards the end of the 6.3 cycle, meaning that we should have a final 6.3 release imminently and then will come the opening of the merge window (period of time during which disruptive changes can be merged) for what will be the 6.4 kernel series. We will have a full summary of the features queued up for that cycle once the merge window closes, next issue.
