• 1-2m of woven cotton, depending on length and size – we used a lightweight gingham
• lightweight woven fusible interfacing
• chalk, pencils or other marking tools
• 6 x1cm buttons
• co-ordinating thread

From the main fabric:

Measure your waist and multiply it by 1.5 (for a more heavily gathered skirt, multiply by 2). So, for a 28” waist: 28 x 1.5 = 42
