Where are Digital Magazines taking us?

And it is only once this need has been satisfied do we dare ask – what can this platform actually do for itself? Early films were not much more than a static shot of a stage before modern cinematography discovered the power of different angles, dynamic shots and special effects. Records - once made by sticking a microphone in front of a live band and etching into soft wax - can now be made with an app on your morning commute and emailed off by lunchtime.

The same is true for digital magazines.  Where we were once so focused on the portability and convenience of a static PDF on tablet screen, we now recognize the potential of embedded multimedia, integrated social media tools, live content via RSS, and dynamic reading experiences.
