APPLE MAC SALES
have taken a significant year-on-year hit of 17.5 percent in Q3 2024, according to data gathered by Canalys. The plummet in sales saw the number of units go from 6.2 million to 5.1 million. This means that since last year, Apple’s share of the PC market has dropped from 9.5 to 7.7 percent.
By contrast, the overall PC market has seen modest growth, with 66.4 million units shipped in Q3, a 1.3 percent growth. Canalys reports that while desktop PC sales are down 4.6 percent to 12.9 million units, this is balanced out by notebook sales, which at 53.5 million units, are up by 2.8 percent.
