INTEL’S AURORA, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
The Aurora supercomputer has a lengthy history.
Originally announced in 2015 and slated to launch in 2018 with a target performance of 180 petaflops, it was later delayed to 2021 and was to be the first exascale computer.
Designed and built by Intel and Cray for the Argonne National Laboratory, Intel’s difficulties with the transition to 10nm lithography ultimately contributed to even more delays.
