RÏCÏNN
Igorrr’s amazing singer has her own project – with no chickens in sight
WORDS: DANNII LEIVERS
“I FOUND A WAY to sing the way my heart wants to sing. You let go of all inhibitions. Sometimes I just need to explode and vomit it.”
Laure Le Prunenec makes music that inspires a physical, emotional reaction. Best known as the singer who’s been adding operatic vocals into Igorrr’s avant-garde metal mix since their 2010 album, Nostril, her solo work as Rïcïnn is just as experimental and boundary-bleeding – not least because Laure has created her own otherworldly language to convey the colours, textures and emotions driving the music. “I wanted to be the closest I could to my feelings,” she explains. “And I can have millions of feelings in one song.”
