PARADISE LOST
Greg Mackintosh and Nick Holmes make an art of feeling jaded
ALUNAH
THE WAREHOUSE, LEEDS
Halifax’s guardians of gloom return to a recent gothic milestone
WITH THE HEAVENS unleashing an almighty deluge, the saying ‘it’s grim up North’ holds more than a kernel of truth as Paradise Lost gear up for a special ‘album launch’ show ahead of a full UK tour alongside fellow goth-doom-metallers Moonsorrow and Alunah. The former are afforded the night off in Leeds, however, with ALUNAH kicking things off with a short-but-sweet set that’s done before we hit 7.45. But if the prevailing grimness of the past two years has affected anyone’s appetite for depressive dirges, it doesn’t show in the sold-out room of smiling faces that greets PARADISE LOST as they take to the stage.
