THE DOME, LONDON For more than a decade, the bemasked THE INFERNAL SEA have been akeystone of the resurgent UK black metal scene, and with half a set culled from new album Hellfenlic, it’s safe to assume they’re about take a huge leap forward. Germany’s GROZA wear the black material hoods, and share some stylistic similarities with
IT’S BEEN Ayear and a half since London metallic hardcore crew Ithaca released their career-best They Fear Us album. It’s lost none of its potency in that time, and so it feels right that it’s played in full for their biggest headline show to date. Before that, though, WALLOWING do their best to warm everyone up with a furiously intense set. The Brighton crew are dressed like Satanic beekeepers and play their noise rock-laced black metal like their lives depend on it. If their intention was to grab everyone present’s attention then it’s very much job done, and if it was to play some actual songs… well, the jury’s out on that one.
