Ron Holzner is doom metal’s peacemaker. Instrumental in the Saint Vitus reunion, he also put together The Skull, as a new vehicle for former Trouble vocalist Eric Wagner, so he could continue performing his brand of classy typically metallic US doom. The Skull were working on their third album when Eric suddenly passed away in 2021, leaving behind a bunch of demos and one already-recorded heartbreaking vocal performance for the track Heaven, which can be found here, along with eight other tracks. Five of them are sung by former Corrosion Of Conformity’s Karl Agell and two (and best of the lot) by Vitus’s own Scott Reagers. While it’s being released as Legions Of Doom, it has classic Trouble written all over and is a fitting tribute. ■■■■■■■
