MIL MI-24 HIND COLLECTION (SHEET NO. X48218)

1:48 kits of the Hind have been around for a while but the new ones from Zvezda are a good reason for releasing a set of decals at this time with a choice of ten challenging schemes.

01 Mi-35P ‘813’ with the 450th Attack Helicopter Squadron, Cypriot Air Command at Andreas Papandreou AFB in Cyprus, 2008. The scheme is overall Dark Grey RAL 7016 apart from Black undersides. 02 Mi-24V ‘134’ with the Hungarian Air Force at Szolnok Air Base in Hungary in 2018. A similar scheme to the Cypriot Hind above applies to this helicopter. 03 Mi-35 Z-3131 with the 104th Helicopter Squadron of the Indian Air Force at Suratgarh AFS in India in 2010. The scheme is overall Pale Grey. 04 Mi-24V ‘101’ with the Mongolian Air Force in 2004. The scheme is a pattern of Dark Green and Dark Brown on the upper surfaces with Light Blue undersides. 05 Mi-35 H357 with the 4th Helicopter Squadron of the Angolan Air Force in Angola in 1991. There is a pattern of Light Stone and Brown on the upper surfaces with Blue-Grey undersides. 06 Mi-24V ‘0837’ as tested by VZLU and Aero Vodochody in Czechoslovakia during ‘Exercise Pohled’ in April 2004. A one-off camouflage pattern of Red Brown, Dark Green and Dark Grey was applied over a Medium Grey base with Light Grey undersides. 07 Mi-24V with the Serbian Security Services at Belgrade Airport in 1998. A wraparound camouflage pattern of Red Brown, Dark Green and Light Olive Green was applied. 08 Mi-35P ‘813’ with the 405th Attack Helicopter Squadron, the Cypriot Air Command in 2017. A camouflage pattern of Light Sand, Tan and Dark Sand was applied to this Hind. 09 Mi-24V ‘48’ with the Belarusian Air Force at Minsk in 2017. A camouflage pattern of Olive Green and Light Stone was applied to the upper surfaces with Deep Blue undersides. We have a query with this one regarding the Light Stone that is illustrated in a much darker shade. Is the illustration correct or the description? 10 Mi-24V ‘114’ with the Afghanistan Air Force in 2011. The paintwork is a pattern of Dark Grey-Green and Light Grey-Green on the upper surfaces and Sky Blue undersides.

MILSPEC WATERSLIDE DECALS
The US Navy’s display team, the Blue Angels celebrate their 75th Anniversary this year. In 2020 the team received their Super Hornets and in 2021 are using their F/A-18E and F models for a full display season. There have been decals sheets for the team’s Hornets before but all to fit their F/A-18C and D models and Hasegawa, for one, has released Hornet kits of the Blue Angels’ last aircraft. It is probably only a matter of time before Hasegawa add Blue Angels Super Hornet kits to their range in 1:72 and 1:48. In the meantime Milspec have just issued decals sets for the new, much larger Blue Angels Hornets in 1:72, 1:48 and 1:32. Those with a Super Hornet kit in the stash that fancy doing a Blue Angels team model now have the decals to do the job. This month we review this set of 1:48 decals. Note that the instruction are larger than our scanner’s screen and you do see the complete diagrams in the pack
