Armageddon In A Summer Dress
PARTISAN. CD/DL/LP
BARELY TAKING a breath as she rattles through One Way Train, the opening track on her eighth LP, Sydney Ward is captivated by the possibility of a post-greed planet. “I swear once you’re there you won’t want to leave,” she sings. “You’ll be fed, you’ll be loved, you’ll have all you need.” A psychedelic hayride which channels Gen X’s Dancing With Myself, Jim Carroll’s People Who Died or R.E.M.’s It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine), it’s a thrilling testament to hope.
