NIKON'S NEW D500
For a long time the top spot in Nikon’s APS-C- format (DX) SLR line-up was occupied by the popular D300 s, but that c amera was launched in 2009 and it s production ceased ages ago. This left a vacancy that Nikon photographers have been wanting to see filled for years. Those years have been filled with rumour and speculation, but at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Nikon delivered what so many Nikon photographers had been hoping for: t he D500 was announced alongside the flagship D5. T his new camera, which is hitting retailers’ shelves now, is aimed at serious enthusiast and professional photographers who want a smaller, lighter camera than a full-frame (FX) mode l. It’s also designed for pros (and amateurs) who want the focal length magnification of the DX-for mat sensor.
