Migrants wrapped in Red Cross blankets exit a Spanish coast guard boat on July 21 after being rescued from an inflatable craft in the Mediterranean. The 110 people had set off from Morocco, a frequent staging point for migrants from Guinea, Nigeria, the Ivory Coast and Bangladesh attempting to enter Europe. Five days later, 800 migrants, some wielding makeshift weapons, clashed with police while storming a border fence in Cueta, a Spanish port on the Moroccan coast.
