This Old Master painting by the 18th century Italian landscape artist Andrea Locatelli (1695-1741) will be shown by L’Horizon Chimérique from Bordeaux at Fine Arts Paris.
The large, 4ft x 5ft 9in (1.22 x 1.75m) oil on canvas, which is in its original frame, depicts a biblical episode showing Hagar and Ishmael being saved from dying of thirst by an angel who points to a spring. The work was formerly in the collection of Louis-François de Bourbon, prince de Conti (1717-76).
