Still smiling after third walk around Arran

Supporters of The Smile of Arran Trust have completed their third annual walk around Arran, raising more than £1,000 for the charity that supports children with brain tumours and brain cancer.

The charity was started in 2014 by the parents of 13-year-old Arran Tosh from Essex, who suddenly succumbed to a brain tumour four days after being diagnosed. Since then, mum Alison Tosh, family, friends, supporters and grandparents of Arran have come to his island namesake, holding a stall at the Brodick Highland Games before setting off on their round Arran walk, stopping in at supporting organisations along the way.

Lamlash Golf Club held a fundraiser collected more than £555 for the group, which Alison described as overwhelming and very much appreciated. She also thanked the Lamlash Bay Hotel which has collected for them throughout the year.

League title goes down to the wire
Monday night saw the final games of the Arran Dairies league take place. There were no surprises as Brodick and South end both won their games to ensure that this year’s league title will be decided by way of a one-off play-off match as goal difference doesn’t affect the league standings.
