Merry Christmas to all our readers.

Where did 2012 go? Is it because I’m getting older or do any of you think that the years just fly by these days? Saying that, I’m looking forward to 2013 – the magazine’s going well, we’ve got some great writers on board and more lined up for the future. The books are also going well. The Legends series is coming to an end, but with a new ten-book series of ‘Big Carp Hunters’ kicking off with Ed Betteridge and Ian Stott in 2013, this to will be very popular, I’m sure. We’ve other books also in the pipeline, including a three-part series of the Rotary Letter and Trevor Pritchard’s new book (Day Ticket) which not only contains some great catches, but is highly amusing. And let’s not forget it’s the 200th issue in March. I am already working on this one, which will be a real pukka collectors’ issue – bumper size and stuffed full of great articles.

This month it is pure quality throughout with a fantastic Rotary Letter again. The team is quite literally the cream of thinking anglers – Laney, Jacko, Ed, Sean, Jamie, Johnny Mac, Leon and me, and we’ve got some real controversial stuff this month including fishing off of other people’s backs, red-carding target fish anglers and supermarket tackle shops. You will be amazed, I’m sure, by some of the responses from the team and how much we sometimes disagree. Not only controversial stuff, but some very relevant problems answered too, such as fishing over dead leaves this time of year and dealing with birdlife – both massive problems answered by the team. Sean Leverett and Ed Betteridge bring us up to date with their respective diaries – we are heading into tough times on the big carp venues they normally fish… Time to find somewhere easier for the winter, methinks.
