JAKE SHEARS
LAST MAN DANCING
MUTE
Five years after his glorious self-titled debut solo album was unfairly overlooked, Scissor Sisters’ singer returns with his band’s hiatus now looking increasingly permanent.
Although the Sisters are still mothballed, album two sees Shears take listeners back to their clubland origins in a way that never quite materialised on the whole band’s studio ventures. With Boys Noize among the producers, the second side of Last Man Dancing is essentially a suite of fabulously messy club tracks where Shears largely keeps his voice in reserve to let the percussion bounce.
