The new ’17-plate’ cars will soon be hitting the roads, and in this month’s issue, we a delivery a definitive guide to negotiating the best price on your new registration motor, as well as maximising the value of your old one. Our step-by-step guide tells you everything you need to know so that you can beat the sales person at their own game.

It’s a big month for new car debuts, with news of the stylish Kia Stinger, the Vauxhall Crossland X and the latest SEAT Ibiza, as well as the unveiling of the BMW 5 Series Touring, Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer and facelifted BMW 4 Series Coupé, Convertible and Gran Coupé. There’s also the first photographs of a brand-new Citroën concept car and two new iterations of Skoda’s brand new Kodiaq.

We’ve tested the latest Volkswagen Golf, the cute and capable Nissan Micra and the Hyundai i30, as well as putting the new Kia Rio and Audi A5 Sportback through our test regime on UK roads. Peugeot’s 3008 meets the SEAT Ateca in an SUV shootout – which one takes the class honours? Other tests include the updated Hyundai Santa Fe, the Jaguar F-Pace 2.0 diesel and Peugeot 208 with the most economical diesel engine of any car on sale today.

In EcoCar, there’s tests of the Toyota C-HR, Kia Niro 2 and Range Rover Sport Hybrid, and we take a look at buying a second-hand electric car, spilling the beans about the pros and cons of EV ownership. There’s the first photos of Lexus’ LS luxury car, the new Audi Q8 e-tron concept and Volkswagen’s I.D. Buzz.

This month’s used car buyer’s guide is all about the MINI Coupé and Roadster Cooper SD, and in Reader’s Drives, it’s all about the SEAT Terra, with an interesting story about the restoration of not one, but two examples of the van with windows.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Beoordeeld op 21 augustus 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
