Classic Bus Magazine

6 edities per jaar   |  English
13 Beoordelingen   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Automotive)
From €4,00 per uitgave
A beautifully designed and intelligent magazine, packed with well-written articles – all superbly illustrated – about different aspects of bus and coach operation, the vehicles we learned to love or hate, interesting companies, people that shaped the industry, plus personal reminiscences and factual stories. Some are shamelessly nostalgic, some controversial, but every piece is written by people who have a lifelong devotion and unquenchable passion for this interest. Many writers are well-known figures in the industry, bringing a fresh perspective that keeps the magazine relevant to today’s readers.

Classic Bus

Jun/Jul 2026 (203) Readers seem to have a soft spot for the Metro-Scania single decker, so we have more in this issue about the type. Many also have a liking for Windover coach bodies, and we feature some impressive Foden rear-engined Kingsway examples that worked for Biss Bros. Talking of coach bodies, Mike Fenton looks at the output from Associated Coachbuilders in the latest part of his series on classic coachbuilders. Our delve into The Bus Archive takes us to a spot on the Purley Way near Croydon, where Roy Marshall photographed some coaching exotica that was passing by. Passing under, or perhaps squeezing under, we have more on the low bridge near Sandown on the Isle of Wight mentioned in the previous issue; and more, also, on that strange cross-country, express coach service, the City Flyer. Leon Daniels remembers with pride the Dennis Dominators he had at Ensignbus, and Mike Frewer recalls when they introduced GPS tracking at PMT in the early 1990s. Richard Belton is rather fond of the Bristol LH and tells us all about the Perkins-engined ones that Lincolnshire Road Car had. David Pike looks at the rules around the use of the double-N National Bus Company logo and Roger Davies puts us straight on Maidstone & District’s VR fleet and how they were numbered. Plus there’s our popular, lively and well-illustrated Forum section with topics ranging far and wide, and a look at some new books.
