FlyPast Magazine March 2020 Vorige editie

English
226 Beoordelingen   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Aviation)
Only €5,99
The March 2020 issue of FlyPast features an extraordinary cover star and an equally amazing story – the globe-trotting Silver Spitfire. Accompanied by air-to-air images, we chart the Goodwood-based fighter’s unique achievement – a Spitfire flight around the world. Pilot Matt Jones chats to Steve Beebee about this challenging and emotional journey in FlyPast’s exclusive interview.

Boeing 707
Following the British Comet and the Russian Tu-104, Boeing’s 707 was the world’s third jetliner type to enter service. However, it was the American machine that truly established a template for passenger travel in the jet age. Charles Kennedy details the famous airliner’s history, alongside exclusive artwork by Andy Hay.

The Few – Hawker Hurricane
In the first of our anniversary mini-series on Battle of Britain aircraft, Malcolm V Lowe recounts the Hurricane’s essential role during the summer of 1940.

Struck by Lightnings
Assistant editor Jamie Ewan visits the Lightning Preservation Group during its hotly anticipated – and ear-shattering – Twilight Run.

Air-to-air photography
Photojournalist Kevin Baxter explores an opportunity for enthusiasts to capture images of aircraft in their natural environment – the sky.

Heroism over the Pacific
In the first of a two-part special, Lee Cook recounts the career of US Navy pilot Harry ‘Dirty Eddie’ March and describes the gruelling hardships of the early days of the Pacific war.

We also celebrate the return to the air of two Australia-based warbirds – a Spitfire, flown by the UK’s Richard Grace, and a Vought Corsair. Darren Harbar goes flying with a Swiss-owned Beech 18 famed for its film and TV appearances, and we report on a Hawker Hurricane that’s making progress at Arizona’s Pima Air & Space Museum.

FlyPast

Very good Beoordeeld op 05 februari 2026

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
