THE EXPERTS
It’s been a year like no other, particularly for women. During lockdown, parents of school-age children dedicated, on average, three hours a day to extra childcare duties. Many also cared for elderly parents, ratcheting that up to an average 4 hours and 25 minutes of unpaid care work daily. Combined with the ‘stay at home’ message, that often meant putting medical appointments on hold. Some were cancelled or postponed; some were offered but we stayed away, not wanting to take up resources or face an avoidable risk.
