‘AND JUST LIKE THAT’…
THEY’RE BACK!
‘SEX AND THE CITY’ RETURNS TO LIGHT UP OUR SCREENS
REPORT: SALLY MORGAN
The original Sex and the City quartet of Kristin Davis as Charlotte, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda and Kim Cattrall as Samantha. A new ten-part series was announced last week, ten years after the second SATC movie which will pick up the story of the New York friends, now in their 50s. It won’t, however, feature Samantha; Kim has decided not to reprise her role
It was the dazzling, groundbreaking show that transported us to a glamorous world of cosmopolitan cocktails, Manolo Blahnik stilettos and the bright lights of Manhattan where, if you were 30-something and single, anything seemed possible.
And now, almost 23 years since Sex and the City (SATC) made its debut, an HBO Max revival titled And Just Like That – a familiar phrase used by fictional narrator and columnist Carrie Bradshaw – is due to film in New York this spring, thrilling fans of the show the world over.
At the heart of the multiple awardwinning TV series were the tantalising romantic adventures and enduring friendships of four very different women – Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Samantha Jones, portrayed by Kim Cattrall – who will not be reprising her role in the next instalments.
