Model Engineer  |  No. 215 Vol. 4519
"This issue on the cover we feature Kingov Trading Co. of Cardiff, who bought this canvas tilt
van bodied Sentinel in July 1914. It was one of the last waggons produced at Polmadie, Glasgow, before Sentinel production moved to Shrewsbury in 1915. And our editor Diane Carney marks 100 years of ‘The Sentinel’ works in Shrewsbury in her feature inside.
Also getting a mention on the front page, our story on Rosebud grates are described and tested by Bill Roebuck and Peter Langridge.
Our locomotive construction series, The Barclay Well Tanks of the Great War, by Terence Holland, continues.
And Frank Cruickshank builds an early ‘semi-diesel’ engine in 1:10 scale, the Allan Brother Lampless Oil Engine.
George Punter makes a detailed model of a Saunderson & Mills Tractor in 3in scale.
We bring you more on Mick Knights’ enlarged version of the popular Mastiff Plus internal combustion design by Len Mason.
In a couple of other projects well worth a look, Henry Wood completes the cab of Emma Victoria, while Graham Astbury designs a very easy to make knurling tool.
And last – though not least – novelty project from Stewart Hart brings us the Potty Finger Engine.
And all of our regulars:
