Kilninver and Kilmelford Community Council is playing its part in Battle’s Over, an international commemoration marking 100 years since the guns fell silent at the end of the First World War. It will be joining in events throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and at scores of locationsoverseas, including New Zealand, Ireland, Australia, Bermuda, France, Belgium, Canada, the United States and Germany, to name but a few.
People are invited to Kilmelford village car park at 6.45pm on Sunday November 11 to view the lighting of a beacon at 7pm which will be followed by a lone piper, then soup, rolls and homebaking.
Organiser Roanna Clark said: ‘We are proud to be playing a part in this international event to commemorate the centenary of the end of the Great War, and to recognise the contribution and sacrifice made by the men and women from our own community.’
