SHIRLEY-ANNE Somerville MSP, minister for further and higher education, visited West Highland College UHI in Fort William to better understand the workings of a small college in the Highlands.
After discussing various topics with the chairman of the board and senior college management, Ms Somerville visited classes and spoke to students.
Ms Somerville said: ‘It was a pleasure to visit West Highland College UHI in Fort William. The college plays a vital role in ensuring learners across remote areas have access to quality tertiary education and it was great to see the innovative learning methods being used to achieve that. It was also particularly good to hear more about the way the college is working with schools and employers to address local employment gaps.’
