LETTER
Thanks for your lovely piece on John Lodge following his sad passing (Prog 165). The first of my many Moodies shows was in 1973 on the Seventh Sojourn tour, and you’re right, with the hanging PA system the band’s live sound was ahead of anything I had experienced up to that point, even having seen ELP, Yes, Genesis and many more in the early 70s. The Moodies were always a great live band, especially on the orchestral shows in the 90s; seeing them with twin keyboard players, twin drummers, twin backing singers and a full orchestra, particularly when they routinely did three nights at the Royal Albert Hall on UK tours, was always amazing.
