SHARK SEASON
The blue shark is one of several species of requiem shark found in deep water in the world’s temperate and tropical oceans. Preferring cooler waters than
most sharks, blues migrate long distances. The current British record is listed as 218lb, with a fish caught off Looe, Cornwall, in 1959. However, larger fish have been caught and released. The IGFA All Tackle record is a 528lb fish caught off Montauk Point, New York in 2001. So with fish weighing more than 100lb possible in UK waters, it’s no wonder fishing for ‘Jaws’ is so popular.
