We begin with a visit to Mossend Yard, the major rail freight centre in Scotland, in June 1989. Another freight article looks at military traffic in the post privatisation years. There is also a feature about some of the specialised wagons used by the MOD. The ‘Deltics’ are an ever popular and much missed locomotive class and we hear about one enthusiast’s memories of the first 11 of the class, Nos. 55001-55011. We take a look at Liverpool Lime Street in our photographic feature. In our European section we discover the Belgian electric locomotives built in the 1960s and 1970s. Between 1968 and 1972 one third of BR’s diesel classes became extinct and we explain why this happened.
