A seldom seen full unopened box of 1961 Nu-Cards Horror Monsters was available from Heritage Auctions in their July Summer Sports Card Catalog Auction. The auction price closed at $4,560 on July 13, 2024, including a buyer’s premium of 20%.
The brightly colored orange box contains 24 unopened packs, which contain cards from the second series. Cards are numbered 67-146 and have orange borders that matches the box. A wide variety of movie subjects, from The Bowery Boys, Frankenstein, The Mysterians, The Blob, Rodan, and The Mummy, to Robbie the Robot and The Alligator People are depicted. There is only “ghost” gum within these paper packs so all cards should be in factory fresh condition should one decide to open the box. That is a scary thought!
