Western Isles Council has congratulated the Hebridean Celtic Festival on its success after a report detailed the significant economic impact on the local economy.
Councillor Roddie Mackay, comhairle leader, said: ‘The Hebridean Celtic Festival had an estimated 18,000 attendees in 2018. The festival is much more than just a four-day event. The incredible work that goes on throughout the year including support from hundreds of volunteers, the platform it provides the Gaelic language and local artists, in addition to attracting thousands of visitors from all over the world, makes this one of the most unique musical and cultural events.’
The festival is estimated to have directly generated £2.1 million.
