Is “recovering from jetlag” a good enough excuse to spend a week in Bali? I was on my way to the Komodo Islands for a SwimTrek holiday and it seemed like a good enough reason to me, but it turns out I didn’t like Bali. Although it was interesting, it was busy, hot and everything I dislike about being a tourist. It was a relief to ly on to Labuan Bajo and meet my fellow swim trekkers.
Our guides for the week, Ricky and Stan, met us at the airport and bundled us into taxis to take us to our home for the week, the wonderful Oceanic, a diving boat with lovely cabins and two great communal spaces to relax in, do some yoga or enjoy a sundowner. I’d swum with Ricky and Stan before so I knew I would be in safe hands and have a lot of fun.
