Tell us a bit about your outdoors background?
Since childhood, I’ve spent time in a countryside house just a few minutes’ walk from a forest and a lake. That’s where my love for the outdoors began. We’d often spend time there, we’d bring supplies, forage a little and cook on the fire. It was a slower way of living that made simple pleasures like eating and drinking outside feel special. I wasn’t always into open-water swimming, that came later, after I moved to Scotland in 2018. Before that, it was mostly pools or contrast therapy. But now, I’ve totally fallen for wild dips, especially at the end of a long walk. That feeling of jumping into a cold loch is one of the best sensations: it energises your body and calms your mind all at once. As for Paul, being born and raised in Scotland, he’s always been close to the outdoors. Growing up, he often went camping by lochs so this kind of rugged, natural lifestyle has always been part of him too.
