Patchwork and Quilting  |  P&Q July 2015
We have some lovely bright summery projects for you in this issue; not least Alison’s Flowers, which featured dainty floral prints from Makower. A Little Bird Told Me uses delicate fabrics from the latest collection from Lewis & Irene in a quick pieced quilt. For something a little more advanced, the Edwardian Cathedral Window hanging is a stylish hand-worked pieced while I defy the Tie-Dyed Bargello quilt not to brighten any room! We make four more blocks in our Building Blocks Sampler quilt and make two smaller blocks in our block of the month project, Heart Song. We review the recent Quilts UK show held at the showground in Malvern, take a look at the British Quilt Study Group at the Quilters’ Guild and also hear about the Women’s Institute and its links with patchwork and quilting. We are lucky enough to have one of the best needle manufacturers in the UK nearby and learn about John James Needles, plus Sheilah Daughtree interviews Kaffe Fassett as he presents his current exhibition at the Quilt Museum in York.
