CAROLINE CATZ
She’s best known for playing Doc Martin’s Louisa Glasson, but the British actor has spent the last few years working on a film about the life of Delia Derbyshire. She explains how she ended up telling this unique tale and why it’s so important to keep women’s stories in the public eye.

A ctor-director – and experimental prog fan – Catz’s new documentary is an imaginative approach to musician, mathematician and Radiophonic Workshop visionary Delia Derbyshire, the creator of the greatest piece of avant-garde music ever heard by families at teatime on a Saturday night: the Doctor Who theme tune.
Delia Derbyshire: The Myths And The Legendary Tapes is finally completed. How does that feel?
I’m so relieved [laughs]. It’s overwhelming to go back through the process. When I last spoke to Prog in 2019 I’d done some interviews, we’d got our commission [from BBC’s Arena] and I was about to start filming. I’d been working on the music with Cosey [Fanni Tutti] for about a year before that, so it’s been a long time coming.
