JOMO TUUN
Inventive instrumental trio with a devious take on progressive metal.
WHEN JOE BURNS, the drummer of psychedelic rockers Guranfoe decided he wanted to explore a “dark and heavy” progressive metal project, no one would have guessed he’d look towards blues and jazz musicians, rather than seasoned metalheads for his musical muscle. But Joe Burns, a wellorganised workhorse, as bassist Oli Cross attests, isn’t really one for predictability.
“It was just a jam in my parents’ lounge initially,” Cross recalls of their first session back in 2018. “I thought it would just be a jam and a few beers, but Joe brought his full kit and recorded and filmed the whole thing. But that’s Joe Burns in a nutshell.”
