Tarot cards are excluded from union’s churches

FOLLOWING consultation with its church members, the Spiritualists’ National Union has published a revised list of permitted activities.

As PN reported in January, a Dorset church had to cancel tarot readings from its fundraising Christmas fair, prompting confusion about SNU rules.

In the new guidance, tarot cards are still excluded, but there are many ways in which churches can attract visitors.

SNU President Jackie Wright said that representatives on the National Executive Committee (NEC) “are the voice of our District Councils and churches.

“We listened to the wishes of churches and now have a revised list which was ratified by the NEC.

“We know how difficult it is for our churches to fundraise in today’s world and were also mindful of not diluting our religion.
