Manipulative or controlling behaviour can gradually erode our sense of self, leaving us doubting our worth, values, abilities and talents. We may be left feeling that our thoughts are wrong or unimportant and we may even be left questioning our own judgement or reality. Being in a manipulative relationship can distort our sense of who we are, and we can start to feel lost and eventually defined by the other person’s view of us.
