January 2013 had arrived and I was working for a charity when I decided, on the spur of the moment, to hand in my notice. John Williams’s 30 Day Challenge was coming up in March, which would take me up to the end of my notice period and, knowing that after the end of the month I wouldn’t have a job, was a great motivation. I knew I wanted to do something around photography, because that’s what I always enjoyed, and people kept saying, ‘Oh, are you going to be a wedding photographer?’ But it just wasn’t something I was interested in.
