I can still remember the excitement around The Sands Of Time when it was first announced.
I was working on games™ at the time, and as a fan of the original game I was keen to see how Ubisoft’s new reinvention was shaping up. While I didn’t go on any press trips to see it ahead of release, I was able to ’accidentally’ (on purpose, of course) walk in on a private meeting that was being held with one of Highbury’s other magazines. Everything about it looked great, and I think the thing I really took away from it was how well it captured the essence of the game I’d first encountered on my Master System.
