A BRIEF LOOK AT THE LOST METROID GAMES
■ Metroid, like any long-running series, has its share of lost games. Metroid 64 was mentioned numerous times by Nintendo, but ultimately came to nothing, while a Metroid adventure was pitched by Sega in the early 2000s after it left the hardware business. Metroid Tactics was a tactical game pitched for Nintendo’s Wii, while MetaForce was Retro Studios’ first at tempt at a Metroid game. Metroid 1.5 was a multiplayer-focussed game that led to Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, while the cancelled DS game Project Valkyrie morphed into Metroid: Federation Force.
