Almost 20 years since they signed their first record deal and began work on their debut album, it’s been a rollercoaster ride for The Script of soaring highs and devastating lows that they’ve continued to channel into their music.
Led by frontman Danny O’Donoghue, they return this summer with ‘Satellites’ - the band’s seventh studio album and the first since the tragic death of founding member, guitarist Mark Sheehan, who passed away last spring aged just 46.
It’s a set that captures the essence of the band while looking firmly to the future - an ethos the singer says was integral to the creative process as we sit down to discuss the record, the band’s career to date and what the future holds for The Script.
When it comes to new music, there’s plenty to look forward to, including new LPs from Marc Almond and Travis, with both discussing their new albums in the pages of this month’s edition, along with Kim Wilde, who talks exclusively about her upcoming sequel to the classic ‘Close’ and her world tour, and Fairground Attraction, who return with their first studio collection in 35 years.
We also look at new releases from Kasabian and Pixie Lott - who is back with her first album in 10 years - and celebrate the start of the summer with a look back at all the action from this year’s Mighty Hoopla festival. I can tell you first-hand that the annual pop extravaganza was as joyous and epic as ever!
