There’s little point arguing about whether Jon Pertwee or Mackenzie Crook’s Worzel Gummidge is the best. It depends what you’re in the mood for: a charmingly bucolic, folk tale-suffused fairy tale about a living scarecrow or an in-yourface, vaudevillian slapstick caper about a living scarecrow. They each do it their way, brilliantly.
