WHAT WE KNOW PS5
Still no pics, but Sony has updated us on the specs of its new console…
Hit me with numbers!
The PlayStation 5 gets a CPU based on AMD’s third-gen Ryzen, with an eight-core 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU is a custom version of Radeon’s Navi and supports real-time ray-tracing for ultra-realistic lighting. At 10.28 teraflops it’s not quite as powerful as the 12-teraflop Xbox Series X, but we’re not convinced anyone will tell the difference. It’s also expected to support 8K resolution. An 825GB SSD capable of 5.5Gbps is monstrous and means shorter loading times plus advanced level designs.
