The Amazon Echo Show is unlike other smart displays. It’s got a huge
screen, doubles up as a digital picture frame and is Amazon’s first-ever wall-mountable Echo device. There’s even a brand new interface featuring Alexa widgets, which adds to its appeal as a central family hub.
The elegant 15.6-inch screen hides a 5MP camera in its white border, and a camera privacy shutter, microphone button and volume controls along the top edge. The box includes everything you need to mount the device on the wall, but this model can also sit on a stand (which is available to purchase separately). Set up is easy: simply plug it in, connect to home Wi-Fi, login in to your Amazon account and the Echo Show 15 will pretty much do the rest for you. You can easily connect pre-existing Alexa devices too.
As with other Amazon devices, to bring the Echo Show to life you simply need to utter the word ‘Alexa’, which you can do so from a distance. When testing, the microphone recognised voice commands from the other side of a noisy room. A slim blue light appears at the bottom of the screen in acknowledgement of a voice command, and you then have access to a seemingly endless supply of features. Get everything from a daily weather and news update to the answers to any burning questions you might have. Responses are both spoken and displayed on the screen, and in some cases, handy graphics and images are also shown to help you digest information more easily.
