The Chameleon has snuck decisively into the mainstream recently. It has been around with its recognisable, eye-wobbling box design since 2017, where it made a gentle splash in the gaming world winning the Best Party Game at UKGE. At some point in the last year, it has been on sale in the unlikeliest of places and become one of the few modern games that people ask you about. A guy at work mentioned they’d been playing. A friend got it for her birthday. We accidentally ended up with two copies, and I took the spare one to leave with my family only to find they’d bought one too. It’s a perfect mix of hilarity and treachery and in such a simple form that you can pretty much play with a two minute explainer. If you’re a chameleon, you want to find out the word without giving away that you don’t know it. And that’s it!
